Self referrals to the Essex Autism Hub

Back
February 4th 2025

The Kids Autism Hub has been commissioned by the NHS in Essex. The three NHS Integrated Care Boards that cover Essex, Southend, and Thurrock came together to develop it for families living in Essex.

Our website with 2 portals, one for Autistic youngsters aged 12 to 25 and the other for their parents and carers has been available for some time along with our fabulous free weekly online webinars. The feedback we have so far from both Autistic youngsters and parents who use our website and our webinars is extremely positive. They tell us we are making a real and positive difference to their lives.

It has therefore been decided to carry on having professionals refer to our service, but to also open up our service to as many people as possible who may benefit from it via self-referral.

Both Autistic youngsters aged 12 to 25 and their parents and carers can self-refer using either an electronic code or by scanning a QR code. Either of these automatically gives access to our online self-referral form.

The form advises ‘Please fill in the details below & submit the form to apply to register. You will need to link us with a professional, this professional could be an NHS professional, a SENCO, a teacher or teaching assistant, someone from social care, a support worker, a practitioner etc…’

We are therefore able to open up our service to self-referrals, whilst also ensuring due diligence.

I have attached both a poster and a leaflet above for you to display and share as widely as possible. They both include a QR code for access to self-referral.

The electronic code giving access to our self-referral form can also be used and shared and this is:

Please feel free to share this in addition to the poster and leaflet as appropriate.

As always, if anyone has any queries or questions about our service or how to refer to our service please contact our hub e mail autismhub@kids.org.uk

Kind Regards,
