Secondary
Tabor Academy is part of the Essex Admission process for students transferring at the end of primary school, and information about this can be found below
This page also contains the information required for students wishing to transfer to Tabor Academy during the academic year.

For students who join us mid year, we use the following process to help us find out relevant information and make the transfer as smooth as possible. Students and their parent(s) or carer(s) will have an interview with the relevant Achievement Team Leader and Year Care Team prior to joining us; this allows us to answer any questions and clarify any information we need, for example, what languages have been studied previously. In their first week, a new student will have a CATS test and a Reading test; this is to ensure they are placed in an appropriate set, and that support can be provided where necessary.
Year 6 – Starting Secondary School at Tabor Academy
For students joining Tabor from primary school, a series of events is held each year in order to prepare students.
We are very much looking forward to meeting you. During the summer term, our Achievement Team Leaders and Year Care Team visit many of our feeder primary schools to meet students who will be transferring to Tabor in the following September.
A parental information evening is usually held in early July to enable parents to ask questions and also to meet the Achievement Team Leader, Year Care team and other staff who will support the new Year 7 students.
The students then spend a day with us in July; this allows students to experience life in secondary school prior to September and helps ensure the transfer is as smooth as possible.
