Year 13

This year is the culmination of thirteen years of schooling, and the year to achieve the grades to commence the next step on your chosen path, whether that be continuing your education at university, the world of work or an apprenticeship.

The ethos and atmosphere in our Sixth Form is positive and vibrant with a strong sense of community. A broadly-based educational experience is provided for full time 16-18 year old students, and the importance of the development of each individual student is recognised.

Tabor Sixth Form strives to provide a bridge between the worlds of school and of higher education or employment. The aim is to give students the skills, opportunities and qualifications needed to progress and make the transition to the full adult world successfully. Parents are involved in supporting students’ education; they regularly receive reports on progress, attend consultation evenings and are contacted when it is felt that they need to be involved.

We believe that much of the success of our school, and indeed Sixth Form, lies in the strong emphasis on pastoral care and a concern for the particular needs of each individual student. Tabor Academy has its own pleasant and distinctive atmosphere and a clear sense of community. Our students adopt a mature approach and staff/student relationships are very good. Students receive individual advice and support at every stage of their time with us starting from their initial application for entry. We provide continual expert guidance with our Careers Advisor and tutors throughout the year as well as offering precise preparation for applications to higher education, employment and training.

Our students are encouraged to take greater responsibility for themselves, to be a role model or mentor for younger students, to act as ambassadors and to improve the general life of the school through involvement in the organised events and activities, such as Parent and Open Evenings.

As the Head of Sixth Form I can guarantee an open-door policy to both students and parents and I am deeply committed to making the sixth from at Tabor a truly outstanding experience.
