TABOR IN THE MONTH OF DECEMBER

Within the month of December our students took part in the following activities:-

Events:-

Year 10 students attended an information session led by community police officer, PC Draper about the law and the impact decisions made as teenagers can have on their lives.

Sixth form students held an afternoon tea party in our school Library for residents and carers at Millard House care home.  The guests were treated to a scrumptious afternoon tea of sandwiches, cakes and scones, before the dancing began.  Music and singing led by the school choir provided fun and entertainment.  The afternoon was finished off with a raffle and a game of bingo.  Students look forward to the next visit and sent their guests back home with a homemade cupcake to say thank you for coming.

Christmas jumper day took place on Friday 13th December.  Staff and students made a contribution to wear their Christmas jumper that day.  Over £200 was raised for Save the Children.

Year 10 completed a Santa fun run around the school site on 13th December.  This raised £200 for Cancer Research.

Year 8 students organised a collection for the Braintree Foodbank.  A fantastic 364 items of food  were donated from Tabor Academy helping make someone else’s Christmas 2019 more comfortable.

We visited the following places:-

Year 13 visited Loxford School for two days to experience A Level lessons there and experience life in a larger Sixth Form to prepare them for life at University.

Our Choir visited Bardbury Care home with Mr Lovell and Ms Leslie to sing Christmas songs and Carols.

Sixth Form students went to London to see the Nutcracker Ballet.  They also had lunch in Covent Garden whilst watching the various street entertainers.

The Key Stage 3 Reward Trip went to Rollerworld in Colchester.  This trip recognises and celebrates excellent effort and attendance.  Everyone involved had an amazing time skating around to upbeat music and flashing lights.

The following fixtures have been played:-

The North West Essex Cross Country Championships took place at the Discovery Centre on 12th December.  Despite the appalling weather conditions our students ran extremely well.  Lily in Year 9 and Jack in Year X both got selected to represent the District at the County Cross Country Championships in January.

Unfortunately our Year 11 Football team lost to Notley in the North West Essex District Football Final.  Tabor worked tirelessly throughout the game.  It was a tense game with both teams playing some great football.
