On Tuesday 9th March the school was invited to attend the raising of the Commonwealth flag by the Chairman of Braintree District Council, Mrs Sue Wilson. The event was also attended by representatives from The Royal British Legion Braintree and Bocking branch with their standard bearer, Mr Gordon Roach, who is also the Essex Youth Officer. Other dignitaries, war veterans and relatives of soldiers that lost their lives in the First World War from Braintree were also there. The ceremony was carried out across all of the Town Halls in Great Britain to commemorate the First World War, with a single candle being lit that will remain so until 2018. Tabor’s Head Boy, Jarrod Spencer, read a poem called ‘Remembrance’ by Charles Henrywood. The school standard was paraded by Amy Dawson (Army Career) other school attendees were Tyler Harvey (Royal Marines entrant) Connor Culham (Welbeck Military Academy ) and Mr D Wiles (School Youth Officer for The Royal British Legion). All that attended signed the book of remembrance which was a great honour.
