On the 19th October 31 year 11, 12 and 13 students travelled across the Atlantic for 6 extraordinary days in New York City. Meeting at 3.00am in the car park at Tabor the group travelled bleary eyed to Heathrow in preparation for the flight. Throughout the trip students visited the Empire State Building, The 9/11 Memorial Gardens, The Statue of Liberty, Wall Street and Central Park. History students had the opportunity to visit Ellis Island, a national museum telling the story of immigration in the United States as well as spending a morning at the American Museum of Natural History on the upper west side.
There was of course plenty of time for shopping at the famous Macy’s department store and some students even made purchases in Tiffany’s Jewellers on Fifth Avenue! We experienced famous restaurants including Bubba Gump and Planet Hollywood as well as feasting on doughnuts, pretzels and hot dogs throughout the day.
The students’ behaviour was exceptional throughout the duration of the trip and it was an experience they will never forget.
