Students from Tabor Academy laid a wreath of poppies at the Braintree District Memorial Service on Sunday 11th November 2018. Following a poignant service held at the war memorial Mrs S Speller, Head teacher, laid on behalf of the Tabor staff and Scarlet laid on behalf of the Tabor students. Estates Manager, Mr D Wiles also laid a wreath on behalf of the school and their affiliation with the British Legion. Scarlet said that ‘It was moving and a privilege to be asked to represent the school at such an important event. Scarlet sang the National Anthem at the school’s Remembrance Service on Friday, that was attended by over 1000 people from the school and local community.
Tabor Academy were also represented through their standard. The standard bearer, Jack, a year 11 student has been in training for weeks. Jack said ‘I am nervous about marching with the standard but I know that my nerves are small compared to those that we are remembering today.
Student representatives marched from the Public Gardens to St Micheal’s Church, where a trio of girls, Scarlet, Taonga and Tamica, performed and sang to the audience.
