Welcome to Year 9

When our students reach Year 9, they are closer to GCSE examinations than they are to their primary school days. This can be a daunting prospect, but it is during this critical time that we see students taking on more responsibility and independence towards their own learning and maturity in their own lives. This growth, along with our guidance, will allow students to thrive through their GCSE options process and choose subjects that they enjoy and in which they will excel. These subjects could lead on to areas of specialism, jobs and professions in which students already aspire and which will help shape their future.

Students at Tabor are supported in their everyday journey in year 9 by myself, along with Mrs Ellis in the Year Care Team who is experienced and skilled in providing strong support for the diverse and evolving needs of the students. Students can additionally find support from their form tutors, with whom they see every day. Because form tutors see the students so often, they are the perfect person to contact should any issue arise and are always happy to help in any way they can. The world can be a confusing place and we will all make sure to work collaboratively with parents to ensure students are fully prepared for the rest of their school journey and for a happy and successful life beyond Tabor.

“The principle is competing against yourself. It’s about self-improvement, about being better than you were the day before (Author, Steve Young)”. We hope to help all Year 9 students to continually grow and become better versions of themselves each day.
