We had a fantastic night at the Jack Petchey Awards ceremony at Braintree Arts Theatre during the evening of Tuesday 27th January. Miss Bollington, myself and the students’ parents watched as Sue Wilson, Chairman of Braintree District Council, and Brooks Newmark MP presented the awards to eleven senior schools and colleges in our area.
Our wonderful student achievers were Mary Cole, Chloe-Jade Walker-Drake, Lillie-Raie Wilson, Kimberley Rayment, Kian Culham, Niamh Garvin, Kaitlyn Clifton-Ward, Ben McRae-Adams and Madi Fribbens. Some of the reasons for their awards were charity work, volunteering, young carers, representing our school, excellence in their chosen sport and being role models to other students.
Miss Bollington’s contributions to our school were also rewarded and she was only one of four adults that received the Jack Petchey Leadership Award that night. She was nominated for her dedication towards PE, and the school as a whole, and her ability to pass this on to the students. She also won the accolade for her charity bike rides and treks to Kilimanjaro etc.
Tabor student Megan Chappell sang a Christina Aguilera song a capella during the presentation and her performance was outstanding.
The evening celebrations proved that we have some remarkable young people in our midst and we should be immensely proud of them.
